Satan! You are a stumbling block to me
from Feeding My Faith · host David Jackson
Today we are looking at Matthew 16 and Proverbs 16. Here we see Jesus getting more obvious, and starting to let people see who he really is. The Sadducees want a parlor trick, and Jesus tells them to talk to the hand. We see the patience of Christ as the disciples are worried about bread. Jesus was like, “Seriously? Do you not remember the THOUSANDS of people’s I’ve fed MULTIPLE TIMES? When Peter figures out he’s the Messiah Jesus is like FINALLY SOMEONE GETS IT! How weird is it that he wanted to keep it under wraps? He had a timeline, and he didn’t want to move at the pace that I’m sure the disciples want to move. I love in Matthew 16 verse 23 Jesus says, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me…” How cool is that? Satan is a stumbling block that can be kicked away! In Proverbs 16 we learn: All a person’s ways seem pure to them, but motives are weighed by the Lord. The Lord detests all the proud of heart. Be sure of this: They will not go unpunished. Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall. 19 Better to be lowly in spirit along with the oppressed than to share plunder with the proud. 31 Gray hair is a crown of splendor; it is attained in the way of righteousness. 32 Better a patient person than a warrior, one with self-control than one who takes a city.
