Satiated Saturdays Episode 5: Stuck In An Emotional Eating Cycle?

from Satiated Podcast · host Stephanie Mara Fox

Happy Satiated Saturday! Have you ever been in an emotional eating cycle? It goes something like this: something happens in your day that sparks some emotions. The emotions feel too intense to sit with and so an overwhelming urge to eat arises. The part of you that really really does not want to address the emotion convinces you that eating would be easier. You eat more than your body physically needs and now you don't have to address that emotion anymore because you feel too full and are now focused on the guilt, shame, or judgment that has come up around eating as much as you did. This cycle can happen again and again until we allow ourselves to slow down and feel the original emotions that came up. So today, I thought it might be supportive to explore if you find yourself on that cycle how to get off the cycle at each stage. If you’re ready to step into your power, tune in to this week’s episode. If you have ever experienced an emotional eating cycle, what did you learn from that time? How was food acting as your emotional protector? If you’re ever looking for more support around this cycle, email me at [email protected].
