Satiated Saturdays Episode 60: How To Work Through Resistance When Changing Food Habits

from Satiated Podcast · host Stephanie Mara Fox

Happy Satiated Saturday! You know the saying, "what we resist persists." I've been reflecting on this saying recently. The thing about this statement is that if you're playing out a habit with your food or body that on some level you know isn't supporting you long term, you might feel shame or judgment for resisting changing the pattern. What this saying can instill is that it is on you that your patterns are persisting and it is "your fault."What if you need your resistance? What if it is there for a reason? What if it is guiding you in some way?I want to offer a new perspective of resistance when you're embarking on a journey of transforming your relationship with your food and body. It can actually be your friend and ally and it is not "bad" or "wrong" that it is showing up. In this week’s episode, I discuss a new relationship you can have with your resistance and new ways you can respond to resistance when it arises. You can also read the transcript to this week’s episode here. I know how intense resistance can feel. I'm the Queen of resistance when I'm not yet ready to make a change in my life. Instead of continuing to potentially judge yourself, embrace your resistance when it shows up. Its presence is there for a reason and I'm here for you in discovering what that reason might be.
