Episode Description
This is part 1 in a 2 part series on "Satisfy the beast" which is a short hand reminder to help us remember that our bodies are naturally incredible but our hardware is somewhat out-dated when it comes the way it processes stress. Not due to bad design but due to how dramatically the world has changed in the last 50 to 100 years.
In this episode Owl discusses design and maintenance of the human animal to bring about health & balance. "Satisfy the Beast" can be used in many areas of life but in this episode the focuses is on how empathy is being manipulated and left unregulated by good people is causing many folks to have even more stress related health problems.
The connection between empathy and depression might seem obvious but the stress from empathy in our modern world is just as related to anxiety, OCD autoimmune disease and even asthma. Satisfy the beast to signal to your body that whatever stress we face is behind us even temporarily so we finish closing the loop on our trauma responses.
