School District & Healthy Meals for Children, First Taste TV and Next Gen Network w/ Amanda Venezia

from ✨Welcome to the Winner’s Circle✨ · host Tamika

Peace family 💕✌🏾& welcome back!  Listen in as I chat with my high school friend Amanda (Go Dragons! lol) as we discuss her profession in the field of education - specifically food nutrition for children. We take a look at her role as the Director of Dining Services overseeing 5 kitchens, 6 schools and serving 1200 breakfasts and 2400 lunches per day in her local school district. We chat about what it means for nutrition education to start at young age.  Unfortunately many children (black and other children of color) rely on school meals and sometimes it's their only meal. Amanda expresses the importance of equity in the school lunch arena so that children can have healthy meal options. We also know that food is a lens through which one can learn about culture, so she explains how creating a diverse food menu also educates children who are "well off" about other people/cultures. Amanda has two food businesses that support her overall mission regarding Food Nutrition- her media company and her marketing company.
