SCP-4666's origins are unknown. It seems to be somehow connected to pre-Christian Germanic paganism and the winter solstice. While first recorded in 1498, it is probably much older, with some legends suggesting that it was active in Scandinavia as early as the first century BCE before spreading to the rest of Europe around the second century CE.
