Searching for the Right Remedy in U.S. v. Google

In August 2024, a federal district court held that Google possesses monopolistic power over “general search” and “general search text advertising,” which Google illegally maintained through exclusive agreements. The DOJ has suggested a range of possible remedies, including possible divestitures, while Google counters that the suggested remedies are “wildly interventionist” and could harm American consumers.
