Seconds From Tragedy As California Officers Save Choking 3 Year Old Child

from NTA Video Stories

Rialto, California – On August 5, 2026, at approximately 12:10 p.m., officers responded to a 911 call about a 3-year-old child who was choking and having difficulty breathing because of an airway obstruction. Officer Colorado arrived first, retrieved the LifeVac device and used it to remove the obstruction. After several compressions, the obstruction was successfully cleared and the child regained consciousness. Officer Villasenor assisted by administering back blows and ensuring there was no additional blockage. The child was placed in the recovery position and transported to a local hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Bodycam footage shows officers responding to the roadside emergency and using the LifeVac device to clear the obstruction. The caller’s decision to immediately contact 911, combined with the officers’ quick response and training, helped provide the child with care during the critical situation.
