Some of the biggest challenges facing humans right now include climate change, an ageing population and indiscriminate business practices. In this episode, our researchers discuss how using virtual reality (VR) to retrace the footsteps of Antarctic explorer Ernest Shackleton can highlight the impact of global warming and have educational benefits. We find out how frailty can be reversible, and what it takes to improve the quality of life of our most vulnerable community members. And we zone in on Reconciliation Action Plans (RAPs) and why they will benefit every Australian organisation, starting by validating cultural connectivity.

Beyond Awareness: Disability Awareness That Matters Diana Pastora Carson, M.Ed. Is it appropriate to talk about disability? Is there a way to respectfully talk about disability? What words do I use when talking about disability? How do I teach kids about disability? Why do I feel awkward when I talk about disability? Are my disability awareness efforts outdated and offensive? Or are they aligned with disability research, allyship, and inclusion? Are there any quick and easy, and good resources out there to teach me about disability? Is disability awareness necessarily connected to conversations about diversity, equity, and inclusion? How can I be sure that I'm not teaching disability awareness from an ableist perspective? Diana brings in speakers to answer these questions and more during inclusive, socially responsive conversations. This is a forum for special education and general education teachers, parents, and community members who want to promote disability awareness from a progressive, dignifying, social justice, and diversity appreciation perspective. Not That It Matters A. A. Milne More of the witty, wry, and deliciously wicked essays and articles written by Milne. Most people know him as the creator of Winnie The Pooh, but he worked for many years as editor of Punch Magazine and these are some of his best. Not That It Matters is a collection of over 40 of these short stories and articles. Not That It Matters collects his columns for Punch, which include poems, essays and short stories, from 1912 to 1920. Most of his writing pokes fun, both gentle and not so gentle at a variety of topics. They vary greatly in length so there should be something for everyone. Milne wrote in a thoroughly British atmosphere and for a thoroughly British audience so some of his references may need a bit of research for those 'not of the Empire' (like me) to understand.
