Self-Advocacy Initiatives: Rebecca Tillou & Run FASD

from Living with FASD · host Patricia Kasper

Living with FASD is a human interest and educational show for those living with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders, and the people who support them, by someone with both professional and living experience with an FASD. This week on Living with FASD, my Candid Conversation is with Rebecca Tillou, who I first met in collaboration on my book project (Sip by Sip: Candid Conversations with People Diagnosed as Adults with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) will be coming out sometime this week). Rebecca is the author of Tenacity, an autobiographical account of her search for her first family, and the discovery of her FASD which stemmed from that search. I highly recommend Tenacity as a must-read for any foster or newly adoptive parents who question when and how to support a child through discussions of their origins. Rebecca is also a blogger. You can find her blog, Quirking It, here: www.adultingwithfasd.coms.com Dubbed "The Coach" by FASD Hope's Natalie Vecchione, Rebecca launched an awareness and fundraising drive, now in its third year, in partnership with FASD United. Run FASD is now gearing up for its third season. It is not too late to support this cause: visit https://runfasd.org/ and join a team, or register to run, walk or roll on your own. Rebecca has partnered up with Justice for Orphans in her central New York town, and I have partnered up with Foster Children Safe Haven in my central California town. Rebecca is an inspiration to us all, as her dream is now making a difference for us all! As a reminder, Living with FASD is available in video format on both Spotify and my YouTube channel, @PatriciaKasperYourFASDCoach. It is available audio-only on Audible, Stitcher and Pocket Cast. Please like, follow/subscribe and share, and feel free to leave me comments within Spotify or YouTube. I love hearing from you! If you would like to suggest a topic for future episodes, feel free to email me at [email protected]. If you would like to join our community, please hop over to Facebook groups, and join Living With FASD Podcast. I am a Certified Facilitator of FASCETS Neurobehavioral Model as well as a TBRI Practitioner. If you would like to talk with me about arranging training for your agency or community organization, please reach out to me here: https://calendly.com/kaspertrainingandcoaching/consultation If you would like support in your parenting journey, or if the idea of possibly being affected by an FASD is new to you and you would like to explore this (I do not diagnose, just facilitate workarounds for life's challenges), I offer coaching packages that may be a good fit for you. Feel free to contact me here: https://calendly.com/kaspertrainingandcoaching/introductory-chat-with-patti By the way... in the discussion, Rebecca and I both attempt to produce the name of a TLC show on adoption and searching, but neither of us could... It is Long Lost Family.
