Sono stati selezionati dieci finalisti su 101 studenti provenienti da paesi e da scuole di tutto il mondo: il podio verrà ufficializzato durante la cerimonia di premiazione a Mido sabato 31 gennaio alle 16, presso The Vision StageUn anno record per partecipazione internazionale ed eccellenza creativa: così i promotori definiscono la seconda edizione del Sergio Cereda Award, voluto da Harvey Ross, ceo di Optyx New York Retail Group, in onore del designer italiano scomparso quasi due anni fa, suo amico di lunga data e business partner, Sergio Cereda, e organizzato dalla Viva Ross Family Foundation, in collaborazione con Mido e la famiglia Cereda. «Per l’edizione 2026 agli studenti è stato chiesto di creare concept di occhiali da vista e da sole ispirati alle Olimpiadi, progettati per le massime prestazioni negli sport invernali, le condizioni estreme e in stile contemporaneo - si legge in una nota dei promotori dell’iniziativa - Tema che incarna la rara convergenza tra i Giochi Olimpici invernali in Italia e il più grande evento internazionale dedicato al settore dell'eyewear».«Sono profondamente colpito dalla risposta di così tanti giovani talenti, designer che avrebbero reso Sergio incredibilmente orgoglioso - afferma Ross nel comunicato - Cereda è stato un vero pioniere in un’epoca in cui l’occhiale si stava affermando come elemento imprescindibile del fashion. Possedeva una padronanza assoluta dell'intero ciclo creativo dell’occhiale, dalla selezione della materia prima ai prototipi finiti, ed era profondamente convinto che i designer dovessero poter “toccare con mano” il loro progetto. La missione della mia fondazione è garantire che la sua eredità continui a vivere nel mondo dell’eyewear design».
