Redmond, who teachings in the Department of English at Columbia University. She is a Grammy-nominated creator, writer, and scholar of race, culture, and power. She is the author of two acclaimed books: Anthem: Social Movements and the Sound of Solidarity in the African Diaspora (NYU, 2014) and the multi-award winning, Everything Man: The Form and Function of Paul Robeson (Duke UP, 2020). A 2023 Guggenheim fellow, her current project is a forensic listening to Black life before mourning. She is Professor of English and Comparative Literature and the Center for the Study of Ethnicity & Race at Columbia University in New York City where she tends the open collaborative, The Radio in the Orchard (TRiO).
