I’m so glad you’re here.Society seems comfortable when everyone gets along. We tend to live in cookie-cutter houses. Many are content wearing cookie-cutter clothes. And we are all encouraged to embrace cookie-cutter mindsets.Hmmm, what’s wrong with this picture? The belief that everyone should get along to be comfortable in life may be a relational blunder. The need to feel comfortable, taken to extremes, desensitizes us to the transformational aspects of Truth.Living a Desensitized Life?A desensitized life opens the door to confusion, and where confusion reigns, chaos is quick to follow. Both of my parents smoked. They smoked in the house, in the car, in small spaces, in big spaces, and even on airplanes (yeah, that was a thing).Being around cigarette smoke for prolonged periods desensitized my nose to the smell. Although the smell was still present, I no longer paid attention to it. Others could smell the smoke on my clothes, but I couldn’t.We Can Be in Danger and Not Know It!And being around the smoke was harmful to my body. I became so content in my circumstance that I didn’t realize it was hurting me.Upon returning home, after being away from the smoke for a while, I was immediately aware of the smell. It’s amazing that we can be in the middle of a harmful situation and so comfortable with it that we do not see the danger. We are Being DesensitizedThis desensitization is happening in our world. We are offered an opportunity to be comfortable with all things.Yet, society does not offer true comfort. Only God does."Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God." Romans 12:2When we choose to be transformed by the renewing of our minds, we are then able to share with others God's good, acceptable, and perfect will.Recognizing God’s will comforts me.Walking in His way and His timing removes stress and allows me the freedom to breathe deeply. We have a choice—every day. Breathe in truth or conform to lies.Let’s journey together.Father God, renew my mind daily. Open my eyes to the lies and deception of this world. Don't let me be content and comfortable in ways that do not glorify You. Thank You for loving me. Thank You for lifting my face away from the confusion of this world. Praise You, for You are Almighty. You are Mercy. You are Grace. You are Lord of lords and King of kings. Hallelujah.Do not merely listen to the word and so deceive yourselves; do what it says. James 1:22May YHWH bless you, keep you, and guide you in all you do.
