Signalis - Review & Discussion - Silent Evil Podcast 38

Spencer and Cameron are talking all about the survival horror indie game from 2022, Signalis. That I like to describe as, "a sci fi pulp horror story about lesbian androids in Space!!! Trapped in a nightmare and fused with German expressionist story and anime aesthetics." A story is still on the weird, wild, slightly confusing, but nonetheless intriguing. With a slightly isometric top-down view and all the creepy horror vibes you'd expect in a survival horror. Along with great puzzles, haunting enemies, and weapons to show em' all who's boss as we make our escape. Even if you could desperately use a couple more slots for your inventory.The nice thing is that the game fuses what is best in survival horror while adding a lot of its own identity to make it feel fresh and not just a knock off homage. It's unique in the way of other great independent horror games of recent, like Conscript and Crow Country. It sometimes even feels like taking Enemy Zero, dialing it into the max and running with it as far as possible. And that's a cool thing.The games just pure greatness, the story keeps you engaged even if there's a lot going on but it is more of that subconscious thinking type of experience. Where it really sticks with you even after you have completed a run.
