Signs of the Times: The World Will Hate You | John 15:18-20 | Matthew Maher | Landmark Church

Jesus didn’t say the world might hate His followers. He said it would. In John 15:18–19, Christ prepared His disciples for something many modern believers are not prepared for — hostility. Not because Christians are combative, but because holiness confronts a world system organized in rebellion against God. In this message, we examine: • Why persecution is not a glitch but a feature of following Christ • How hostility toward holiness is a sign of the times • The historical pattern of mockery → marginalization → dehumanization • Why repentance divides • How believers are called to respond — not with outrage, but with resolve From Acts to Revelation, Scripture makes clear: faithfulness to Christ brings friction with the world. Persecution is not proof the Church is losing. It is proof the Church is alive.
