Simon Says: Pain and the Brain on Recovery Now with Kim Justus

from A Recovery Now · host Kim Justus

Simon and I normally do our show on the LAST WEDNESDAY of each month .. However this time, we're going to kick off the new month & recognize our Independence .. Before and After Brain Injury. I was sick last week, so we deferred to now. Thanks Simon :) Over the evolution of brain injury and the study of pain, in recent years old original assumptions have shifted. It used to be said that the brain didn't feel pain. Now science is recognizing that the brain has connections to issues of chronic pain, that loop back to specific parts of the brain. One such discovery comes by the name of Central Sensitization, or Central Sensitivity Syndromes. Our brain injuries can and do alter our central nervous system, and cause a convergence of chronic pain conditions, adding to our original BI residuals. We are not Dr's, only survivors who crack the books and pass on information of interest, that hopefully you find helpful. This show is a gathering place for anyone seeking recovery from the challenges of life on life's terms. We discuss useful tools that have helped us lighten the load, of our journey through recovery. More will be revealed! This is a "we" recovery program, because it is in the "we," that we find the new "me." We focus on the four A's of Recovery: Awareness, Acceptance, Action and Adaptation. This is a place for survivor's striving to become thrivers, which takes a good bit of Warrior! Hosted by Kim Justus, author of In a Flash: Miracles Here and Beyond and Hootie’s Hollow and the Magic Tree, found at her website inaflash.org  and "Like" her at facebook.com/inaflash.org too! Co-Host is Simon Lewis, author of Rise and Shine. Find more on Simon at riseandshinethebook.com and simonlewis.us
