There was a season in my life when I skipped to work every day.Yes, skipped. Not because everything was perfect. Not because every day was easy. And certainly not because there was nothing waiting for me that required effort, patience, or responsibility.I skipped because I was happy to be there. And today, thinking about that memory, a question came to me:Why did you skip?Children skip naturally. They don’t usually plan it. They don’t wake up and say, “Today I am going to skip.” Something inside of them simply turns into movement.Joy reaches their feet. And maybe that’s what happened to me.Maybe skipping was my body expressing what my heart was feeling.Scripture tells us that David danced before the Lord with all his might. We lift our hands. We sing. We clap. We kneel. We shout for joy. Praise has never been limited to words. So why couldn’t skipping be another form of praise?Maybe every step, every little jump, was my way of saying, “Thank You, God, for allowing me to do something I love.”A nonverbal hallelujah. And that makes me wonder how often adulthood teaches us to stop skipping. We become serious. Responsible. Busy. We walk quickly from one obligation to another, and somewhere along the way, we may forget that joy is allowed to move us.So today I’m asking myself—and I’m asking you:What still makes you want to skip? And if you find it, don’t be embarrassed by the joy.Skip.Maybe skipping is simply…another form of PRAISE!BW
