SLP 276: Unresolved Grief Is Where The Pain Lies with Rachel Pope

from Self Love Podcast · host The Wellness Couch

‘That’s because of unresolved grief, that is what I help people to move forward through and resolve all the complex grief emotions. Because grief is an umbrella. It’s not just sadness. Even if we allow the sadness to flow there’s still other conflicting emotions that come with grief. There’s guilt, shame or regret and it’s almost always about things we wish we could have said or done differently or things we wish somebody else could have said or done differently. So unresolved grief is where the pain lies.’ ~ Rachel Pope Grief is something we will all experience in our life, and we all may feel the topic itself is a huge one. Grief is not just the loss of someone we love, it can be loss of freedom, loss of what was, a loss of a job, financial stability, career, relationships, education, connection and even hope. Rachel Pope is someone who knows loss well. At 17, Rachel Pope lost her Dad (age 47) to cancer, and eight years later, her eldest brother in a tragic car accident. Little did she know that her grief journey would come full circle with the death of her husband, at the same age and from the same cancer as her Dad. Their children were six and four years old. Highly admired for her positivity and work as a Grief Specialist, Rachel inspires people to recreate a life of gratitude, growth, and healing beyond loss. She has spoken to many health and wellbeing groups and has been interviewed on plenty of podcasts spreading her amazing message. Rachel helps people to feel empowered to take action and to make positive changes in their life, while still honouring their grief and loss. As someone who has experienced compounded loss in her life, Rachel's personal mission is to lift the lid on grief, one conversation at a time. An Author and Grief Coach, her niche is facilitating evidence-based, Grief Recovery Method®️Support Groups, and Helping Children with Loss Programs. Rachel's book 'Gifts from Grief' and motivational speaking events have transformed the lives of thousands who have found a new purpose, beyond the pain of grief and loss.
