SLP 362: Life Is Precious with Wendy Barnes

from Self Love Podcast · host The Wellness Couch

‘It’s been a challenge and there has been of course, dark days. I even had to write a letter to my three kids, because the second time I never thought I would make it. So, I am so blessed. And that’s why everyone to me is so precious. I call them precious because I know they are precious to me. And sometimes I can’t remember their names, but life is precious and that’s why I say to everyone, ‘Just go out and live it today, because you never know what’s going to happen tomorrow, and we are blessed to be here.’ ~ Wendy Barnes A twin, a black belt, a speaker and a cover girl, this week’s guest Wendy Barnes is one extraordinary soul. Competitive in spirit and wanting to travel, this woman was living her best life. She was training for the Mooloolaba Triathlon in 2008 when suddenly she was diagnosed with breast cancer, and her world stopped. She navigated and survived the highs and lows. And then, much to her dismay, five years later she was diagnosed again. In today’s episode we get to hear this extraordinary woman speaking from the soul, inspiring and reminding us all to live life out loud and appreciate how precious life is. Her definition of Self Love is so much about putting yourself number one. Believing in yourself, taking time out, do what you want to do. Live your life not no one else’s. Surround yourself with like-minded people. Love yourself. Stay in your own lane and keep reaching for your own dreams and no one else’s. Her favourite quote is: What the mind believes the body achieves. If you would like to reach out to Wendy her email is: [email protected] Quotes: What the mind believes the body achieves. I was highly competitive and loved sport. That news was devastating and mind-blowing but you get on. Having a connection with my beautiful family and friends gives you courage. I had too much to do and was too young to let it beat me. I chose to change my life. Swimming is the best thing I have ever done, my life saviour. I have always set goals. What the mind believes the body achieves. Life is precious. You never know what is going to happen tomorrow. I had to be really selfish and be mindful. I had to cull people from my life too. I love my scars, I love my body. I wasn’t looking after myself or practicing self love. Smell the roses, slow down, make choices today and look after yourself. I like to be able to pay it forward now. I like to set goals and plans and live my life. The Essential Self Care Weekend was just what I needed for me. Cancer changed my life. Live your life not no one else’s. What the mind believes the body achieves. I love adventure and being free. Don’t hold back and live your life today.   SELF LOVE PODCAST SPONSOR LINKS THANKYOU FOR LISTENING… If you would like to share your feedback on this podcast please head to my Facebook and Instagram pages below.
