It suggests that when people make choices – whether they choose to invite us to an event, return our calls, support our goals, or behave in ways we don’t agree with – we should simply let them. Their actions reflect them, not us. Our job is not to change or convince them but to observe and act accordingly. This is an interesting way to give yourself permission to let the things go that do not serve you. And to lean into what actually does give you the freedom to be you. Neuroscience suggests that the amygdala – the part of the brain responsible for emotional responses – activates when we feel threatened or out of control.
