SLP 562: The Power of Circle with Imogen Bailey

from Self Love Podcast · host The Wellness Couch

In this episode of the Self Love Podcast, Kim sits down with Imogen Bailey to explore the powerful role of women’s circles in fostering authentic connection, healing and self-love. Imogen shares her journey from the entertainment industry into wellness work as a doula, circle facilitator and author of The Power of Circle, reflecting on how practices like meditation, journaling and community helped her redefine herself beyond external expectations. Together they discuss the ancient tradition of gathering in circle as a space without hierarchy, where women can share openly, learn across generations and support one another through different stages of life. In a time where loneliness and digital connection are increasing, they highlight the importance of intentional, in person spaces that nurture emotional wellbeing and meaningful relationships. Imogen also explains how circles can be thoughtfully facilitated with structure and intention, and shares insights from her accredited training program designed to help others safely hold these spaces. The episode is a heartfelt invitation for you to reconnect with yourself and each other and perhaps even start your own circle grounded in self love and community. We have chapters. If someone says you can’t, I’m like, I will. Don’t let other people define who you are, whether it is on the outside or the inside. Love it and be there because you love it but still don’t let other people in that field define who you are. It is really important that we define who we are. We love ourselves enough to define who we are. What comes out of that is a community of people who want to lift each other up and support each other. If I didn’t find self care, I was going to be in trouble. Circle has transformed me to the point that I am a different person now. When you sit in a circle, there is no hierarchy. There is an equality, there is inclusion, there is looking into each other’s eyes. The energy of that circle doesn’t stop when the circle closes. You take that with you. Circle creates this beautiful shape where nobody feels like they have to be the person that stands at the front and fixes everybody. Our bodies are wired for in person connection. Circle offers deep in person connection. It really is an ancient tool that has worked since the dawn of time. No one needs to be a guru. No one needs to be an expert. It is purely about creating an intentional space that feels warm, inviting, relaxing and nourishing. We are in the middle of a loneliness epidemic and it is global. It is like gifting yourself a moment in time. Meditation is now mainstream. Circles need to be mainstream as well. We can learn so much more from somebody telling us the story of their life than scrolling on Instagram. Think of every year as you go, the things that you let go of and the new things that you expand with. We are levelling up. Circle gives people a safe place. You leave the baggage at the door. I want to keep loving myself so much that I don’t need to be any younger version of me anywhere. I would love to see a circle in every corner. This has by far been the most rewarding career that I have done. You have to love yourself so much that I have the ability to love you because we are both worthy of pure unconditional love   SELF LOVE PODCAST SPONSOR LINKS THANKYOU FOR LISTENING… If you would like to share your feedback on this podcast please head to my Facebook and Instagram pages below.
