SLP 85: Your Exceptional Life with Marcus Pearce

from Self Love Podcast · host The Wellness Couch

“The word diversity has been reduced in today’s world to mean gender and race. But really diversity in its pure definition is around every single difference that you can imagine in life and how unconditionally loving you can be towards every single difference, particularly the ones at the other of the spectrum of your beliefs and views and behaviours. How compassionate can you be towards the things that you vehemently, and the people that you vehemently disagree with and continue to live your life with love?”  Marcus Pearce From smoking, drinking, workaholic, TV producer to radical, preaching, vegan health nut, this week we have the gorgeous Marcus Pearce talking openly about the pathway to health and living an exceptional life. He shares his journey from being a corporate executive to parenthood, from event organiser to best-selling author, from directing others to podcaster all with love, intelligence, enquiry and compassion. Marcus gets us to think more openly around topics on nutrition, diversity, wellness, beliefs, values, drive, purpose and love. We talk about being hypnotised in life. Marcus believes all of our values are an illusion, in fact we are all in the illusion of life. And what if everything we believed was wrong? He talks about our identity and how it might suit us better to let go of always being ‘right’ in fact it might be better to be wrong. It allows you to have a more diverse and wider experience of the world. As a father, Marcus does not want his children to feel shackled by his own thoughts and beliefs, he wants nothing more than for his four kids to grow up with an open mindset reminding us all to read an excerpt from the Prophet by Kahlil Gabran. And a woman who held a babe against her bosom said, Speak to us of Children. And he said: Your children are not your children. They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself. They come through you but not from you, And though they are with you yet they belong not to you. You may give them your love but not your thoughts, For they have their own thoughts. You may house their bodies but not their souls, For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams. You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you. For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday. You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth. The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite, and He bends you with His might that His arrows may go swift and far. Let your bending in the archer’s hand be for gladness; For even as He loves the arrow that flies, so He loves also the bow that is stable. On the topic of changing the people around us to live the way we do he is reminded of a Benjamin Franklin quote: “Consider how hard it is to change yourself and you’ll understand what little chance you have in trying to change others.” If only we could love people for who they are. The most loving thing we can do sometimes is the cruel to be kind or at other times let bygones be bygones. Do we really need a right and wrong? He thinks it’s important to love people for who they are and gives examples in his book of the most unforgiveable acts where forgiveness takes place. Marcus describes the 8 parts of his Exceptional Life Blueprint that includes Life Purpose, Movement, Social Life, Nutrition, Family, Growth, Finances and Spirit. He talks about rituals and how they have made a huge difference to his life and how they constantly change depending on his needs and wants. He insists they should be rituals for winning and that means sometimes they change. Your ritual should compliment every other part of your day. He says the 4 cardinals mentioned in his book are: generosity, respect, kindness and helpfulness. Marcus has been a part of The Wellness Couch for many years, he is the head of marketing and running the Wellness events with well over 4,500 attendees. He said it has taken him to Ikaria, he launched 100 Not Out Podcast which is now the longest standing podcast on the couch and now it feels it is a reason, season and lifetime. It has served a massive purpose and now the time has come to end it. Below you will find the link to attend or get the replay of this life inspiring and wonderful platform of exceptional people.
