Smokey and the Bandit (1977) vs Cannonball Run (1981): Part 1

In 1977, Burt Reynolds agreed to be in his roommate, stuntman Hal Needham's, directorial debut despite it being the worst script he had ever read. What resulted was a defining role for Reynolds and a sleeper hit for Needham finishing second that year only to Star Wars. Four years and four movies later, Needham and Reynolds teamed up for another defining role and star-studded mega hit, The Cannonball Run. Both movies are nothing but fun where you as the viewer are along for the ride.
