Social Insecurities And Three Effective Steps to Conquer Them
from The Health and Sport Show
When we are in social situations we can often meet characters that can easily trigger our insecurities. However, our behaviour can change and is dependent on different factors. What steps can we take to not let our own and others insecurities dominate our behaviour especially in social situations? KEY TAKEAWAYS Personality traits such as arrogance and criticising, people pleasing and requiring constant validation can denote the presence of insecurity. Try and think about the perfect situation for yourself;, a night out, a night in, an adventure, a sporting event. Whatever it is, write down what it is and how it makes you feel. Be as detailed as possible. Why do you think you feel that way? Think about your most unpleasant situations. Once again, be as detailed and honest as you can on why you think you feel that way. Step one. Take a few minutes to think about your personal abilities and qualities, it cannot be physical or appearance based. Step two. Write them down. This realises your view of yourself. Step three. Prove yourself right. Demonstrate these qualities. They are your values and reduce your insecurities by highlighting your positive traits. BEST MOMENTS ‘The atmosphere changes immediately. Everyone becomes that little bit more guarded and the conversation dries up. This new arrival dictates their own will on the proceedings’ ‘They can’t bring themselves to say no or disagree as they’re worried they’ll appear rude or people will think they’re selfish and thought of in a negative light.’ ‘There was a time going back into my twenties when I felt really uncomfortable being out in a group of guys. A stag do would have been my worst case scenario because I don’t like drinking, really, at all, certainly not to excess.’ ‘It helped me stop listening to the external noise of what being a man was supposed to be and helped me become more secure in myself.’ VALUABLE RESOURCES https://youtube.com/channel/UCQXAka99a6MdZexeEJaMZbA https://m.facebook.com/elevatehealthuk https://www.elevatehealthuk.com/ https://instagram.com/elevate_healthuk?utm_medium=copy_link ABOUT THE HOST TOM BUTTERFIELD I have always been interested in sports, unfortunately injuries and poor training decisions curtailed my dream of becoming a professional football player.
