SOJOURNER TRUTH 1852: THE TALE OF THE BOLL WEEVIL dramatizes the speech of Sojourner Truth before an Ohio town meeting in 1852 when she was invited to debate the Fugitive Slave Act that was having a chilling effect on former slaves who had sought freedom and refuge in the North. MAHALIA JACKSON: MAKE A JOYFUL NOISE dramatizes a meeting  she had with her record producer in 1955 when she was offered a lucrative contract to sing secular music rather than gospel music. Both monologues feature Sheilah Barksdale.
