Before Alfred Hitchcock brought suspense to the silver screen… before “The Lady Vanishes” became a classic… there was Ethel Lina White — a quiet yet determined woman from the Welsh countryside with a love for language and a longing for more. As a young girl, she found comfort in writing — first children's stories and whimsical tales that were often overlooked or dismissed by publishers. But even as rejection knocked at her door, Ethel refused to let go of the pen. Turning her talents to suspense, she found her true voice. Her breakout novel, The Wheel Spins, captured the attention of none other than Alfred Hitchcock, who adapted it into the 1938 cinematic triumph The Lady Vanishes — a film that launched his international career and placed Ethel’s storytelling on the world stage. Tails to Tales stars Sara Goodhue as Ethel, Amy Currie as Charlotte, and Delvyn C Case Jr as Alfred.

MAHALIA JACKSON: MAKE A JOYFUL NOISE dramatizes a meeting  she had with her record producer in 1955 when she was offered a lucrative contract to sing secular music rather than gospel music. Consider that you find corruption and gross malfeasance in your place of employment. You begin writing and speaking about these issues, and garner a large group of supporters. When those in charge learn of your writings and speaking, they summon you do a conference to explain your views, threatening you with arrest and even worse. This happened to a young priest John Hus in the year 1415 when he was summoned to a church council in Konstanz, Germany. Though this play occurs in a very localized situation, doesn't it have application to many other situations around the world in many other times? Perhaps it's happened to you, how would you respond?

CATWALK IN KABUL:  A play of two different women who meet at the show and their lives and reactions to what they are seeing.  It's a play in Afghanistan, but the issues and values are universal.

WHAT CAN A BICYCLE DO FOR A YOUNG CHILD? CHANGE A LIFE?  This is what happened in the 10-minute play DON'T UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF A BIKE.  It's the true story of a Kurdish girl who received a bicycle as a thoughtful present by a worker at a refugee camp.  At age 5 it was the first time this little girl had been made to feel important....and loved.   25 years later she sets out on a search to find this kindly man. The play shows the power of little gifts and how long the effects can last!
