Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception

........Mary’s was redeemed by God through the merits of Jesus’s life, death and resurrection by having her preserved from the stain of original sin, rather than having it removed later on. And what this means is that in anticipation of the merits of her Son's salvific act for the human race, Mary was preserved free from original sin from the moment of her conception.  Hence the belief in Mary’s Immaculate conception.
