Songwriter's Circle

from Piedmont Artist Profiles · host Piedmont Artist Profiles

This is the first of what will eventually become a regular series here on Piedmont Artist Profiles that I am calling Songwriter's Circle. For each episode in the series I will sit down with two or more local songwriter's and talk about the art, craft, and industry of songwriting. I hope that these shows will help raise the awareness of the craft, and help our local artists raise their profile, and get the recognition they deserve.  This first episode includes one of my buddies, Mr. Don Eidman. And I also got to finally meet Mitch Hayes.   Mitch is a Carolina born and bred songwriter whose original pieces pull from Americana, Country, and blues. He has a very centrist way of writing about social issues that I find refreshing in this time of extremes. You can catch Mitch this weekend for two shows. He'll be performing at the Galway Hooker in Cornelius Friday August 4th at 10:00pm, and on Saturday August 5th you can find him in Pilot Mountain at The Living Room at 8:00 pm. Be sure to check him out on facebook and go to his website MitchHayesMusic.com for updates and downloads.  Don is a So-Fo (Social Folk Music) writer and performer who is originally from Baltimore, but alas he ended up here in North Carolina. He writes songs on the whole spectrum of social injustice and does it in such an authentic and coherent way it makes me feel like I'm in Berkley 1969. Don can be found at a handful of open mics around the area every week; Summit Coffee in Davidson, Wired Coffee Express in Kannapolis, and Lil Roberts in Concord to name a few. You can also listen to some of his songs at Don Eidman.com Piedmont Artist Profiles is a Concord, North Carolina based podcast covering local artists, musicians hailing from the greater Charlotte Metropolitan Area. Our broadcast features emerging live performances and in depth interviews, covering everything from painters, open mic performers, local singer songwriters, poets, authors, and genres including rock, reggae, and punk. We can be found on iTunes, Stitcher, Google Play, Facebook and wherever you download your podcasts. For more details visit PiedmontArtistProfiles.libsyn.com or email [email protected] . The Piedmont region includes Charlotte, Huntersville, Cornelius, Kannapolis, Rock Hill, Fort Mill, Matthews, Salisbury, Concord, and all points in between.
