Speaking on Business: Kahve Cafe
from Salt Lake Chamber · host Salt Lake Chamber
This is Derek Miller, Speaking on Business. Kahve Cafe in Salt Lake City offers a cozy, community-focused space serving high-quality coffee and specialty drinks. Known for its welcoming atmosphere and dedication to sustainable sourcing, it has become a popular spot for locals to gather and connect. Owner, Elif Ekin, joins us with more. Elif Ekin: Kahve Café was my professional pivot when my wholesale baklava business faced challenges during the pandemic. I transitioned from offering special-order baklava to creating a Turkish café in a charming old Victorian house in downtown Salt Lake City. We were proud to introduce the valley to the art of cooking Turkish coffee in hot sand, a method that reflects the traditional way of brewing coffee over hot coals or ash. Beyond Turkish coffee, we offer a Turkish tea bar and a unique drink concept called “Moon Milk,” made with plant-based milks, natural colors, sweeteners and imported spices. At Kahve Café, we feature Turkish baklava, sweets, savory treats and small bites. Our menu caters to a variety of dietary preferences, offering gluten-free cakes, vegan and gluten-free dips and primarily vegetarian options. It’s been a joy to share the flavors of my heritage while welcoming everyone to the table. Please visit us downtown or at KahveCafeSLC.com. Derek Miller: Kahve Cafe continues to be a beloved local hub, offering exceptional coffee and a welcoming environment. It provides a relaxing space for everyone to enjoy.
