Spiritfarer (2020) Part 1: Is It Wet When You Hug Your Big Toad Uncle?

Spiritfarer is an adorable little game, that on first inspection, looks like a fun, cozy little friend-em-up like Stardew Valley and friends. This is a lie. Spiritfarer is actually a coldly calculated trap, designed to lure you into making friends with friendly, interesting, deep characters explicitly so it can take them away from you, and then remind you what you've lost. The hug button isn't a cute fun thing - it's a necessity.
