Bad Bitch Blasters (2025): Is This Game Of The Year?

We did it. We found the best game. Podcast's over. Jokes aside, this one's most likely ending up on a couple GOTY-lists for us. It might go on yours, too. Just give it a try. It's only mostly obnoxious and people incapable of spelling anything correctly. In this episode: Crazy Frog, name every RPG, the most depressed sad boy of all time, BBB vs Slayers X, TVtropes is good sometimes, Airplane! is the best movie of 1980. ~~~ Our theme music is Glass Half Full by the incredible Cliff, you can find him on Bandcamp! Big Walk (2026): Oi! Do You Have Your Big Walk License?

Hello. Papers please. What do you mean, "what papers"? Your big walk papers. You know, completion certificate, although if you have a signed BW-92 "tried big walk for a few hours but didn't like it" form, I'm legally required to accept that at well. We just need to know you aren't ruining this for yourself. What's that? You haven't finished big walk? You do know you are trying to listen to this episode, right? Can you repeat that? Yes, right into this microphone. I'm really quite sorry, I'm going to have to send you to prison. Officer, this person, right here. Yep, hands up, thank you. You might think we're overreacting, but it's for the best, really. Don't you know we're already past peak big walk? People who haven't played it yet are scarce resource! It's a matter of national security! Yes, prison, off you go. Frankly, I don't have a whole lot of sympathy for someone who hasn't played it yet. I don't think those kind of people should be on the streets. I have children out there, you know.   In this episode: EXTREME SPOILER WARNINGS, language evolution, doner, tea kettle code, hanging with your friend, puzzles, geese, get your ass down here, Big Walk: San Bernardino. ~shoutouts zone~ San Bernardino National Forest ~~~ Our theme music is Glass Half Full by the incredible Cliff, you can find him on Bandcamp! Dispatch (2026): Is Two A Harem?

Look, I admit, Robert's pretty cute, even if he is basically a perfectly generic genshin impact ass background character. And he probably is a good person, what with all that mecha man stuff he had going on! But mang, two baddies? I can believe in giant robots and flying people but this is really straining my disbelief here. Anyway you shouldn't date your coworkers. In this episode: telltalealikes, this is a dating sim, why do so many hot women throw themselves at the most average man alive, josh wheadon, radar charts, punch up's special move, being your own genre, HR violations, ok but no really genuinely DO NOT DATE THESE PEOPLE, sad wet boys. ~~~ Our theme music is Glass Half Full by the incredible Cliff, you can find him on Bandcamp! Kerbal Space Program (2011*): Will, Where Are Your Solar Panels?

Warning - this is not a fair or balanced episode. Maybe if Karp or Gary had been available, we could have got someone to get the hose and spray us down with cold water - but they aren't here, so nothing is going to stop Will and Feather from gushing about a very special game for an hour. And since Feather is writing this intro, it means I get to say: Kerbal Space Program deserves it. This silly little game about frog dudes and their incredibly wobbly rocket ships (Will! you forgot autostrut again!!) is important! I can't think of another game that is that good at capturing what it means to be an Engineer. In this episode: jobs, why rockets go sideways, reaction wheels, Feather is the reason why we don't have cool things anymore, exploring the kerbol system, the upcoming Romeo mission to Juno, successors, Boeing Starliner. ~shoutouts zone~ The Delta V Subway Map NASA's tiny little ESCAPADE probes and Blue Origin's very large New Glenn Space Shuttle Contingency 2 Engine Out BLUE abort Duna and Back using only Electric Power and Xenon Matt Lowne: Saving 10 Kerbals From The Mun ~~~ Our theme music is Glass Half Full by the incredible Cliff, you can find him on Bandcamp! DUSK (2018): Boomer, Will You Sell Me Your Strongest Shooter?

This week we played one of Karp's longtime favorites, DUSK. Probably because he gave us all free keys. We dive into the Genredome to define the Boomer Shooter. Dusk is a successor to "technical" classics like Doom, Quake, and Redneck Rampage. Will Gary and Feather finally enjoy a Boomer Shooter?  ITE: Hup Hup Hup, Deep Voices, Potion Sellers, D Pad Aiming, the last 50 players of Quake Arena, 4 paragraphs of plot, Morale, Quicksaving, Rats, Creepy Holes, John Woo'ing, Crate Dog,  Gunplay, Multiplayer, Ultrakill Release Date, Secret Agent Wizard Boy and the International Crime Syndicate ~~Shoutouts Zone~~ for the shoutouts zone: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_FQU4KzN7A  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redneck_Rampage  ~~~ Our theme music is Glass Half Full by the incredible Cliff, you can find him on Bandcamp! Message From Deep Space (2026): Are You Smarter Than A Middle Schooler?

Happy 150 episodes! This week we tackle the important, pressing questions: are we alone in the universe? If life is out there, what is it like? And most importantly, if Johnny has 512 apples, but gives away 489 of them, how many does he have left? In this episode: hidden undertale jokes, precision targeted games, linguistics, onion science, theoretical plot holes, I do love me some math homework, searching between the couch cushions for the most useless astrophysicist of all time, SEVEN HOURS OF MATH HOMEWORK. ~shoutouts zone~ Arecibo message nand2tetris ~~~ Our theme music is Glass Half Full by the incredible Cliff, you can find him on Bandcamp! Itch Show and Tell #1: How Do You Feel About Demos?

We needed to mix things up a bit, and what better way than to plunge into the infinite games firehose that is itch.io? We're continuously amazed by both the quality and originality available on itch - often entirely for free! - although not all of our games were the most original and or quality-ful. Still! They're labors of love by beautiful people! You have to get a little bit romantic. Featuring: Milki Delivery Moss Moss The Margo Collapse Cobb Can Move Also in this episode: look at this fuckin goober, it's just milk, well mossed! demo thoughts, the treachery of idle games, cobb is nothing like baba except for that one thing in which case he is. ~shoutouts zone~ All of the above games, and their devs. Granny Balatro (Super Cupon Club) Yahtzee Balatro (Deviled Dice) Blackjack Balatro (13 Bones) Taiji Minami Lane A(s)century ~~~ Our theme music is Glass Half Full by the incredible Cliff, you can find him on Bandcamp! The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe (2022): Did You Get The Broom Closet Ending?

This is a podcast about Stanley. He is a video game character who you play as in The Stanley Parable. If I say anything else, I'll spoil the game, and that wouldn't be very fun, would it? In this episode: 40 hour playtime, the nightmare, Super Go Outside, Stanley Parable 11, interrogation of choice, silly bird device.

Shadows Of Doubt (2024): Who Dunnit?

Lost in a New England ass procedurally generated city, our hosts are lost taking on random jobs as a slimy(?) private investigator doing their best. It's grimy and frustrating, with too many turrets and not enough wiggle room. And yet, I think we all had a good time? It's Shadows of Doubt! in this episode: nothing names, looking crunchy, investigations, hiding under beds, no autosaves, impossible tresspassing, the pinboard, hacking government databases ~~~ Our theme music is Glass Half Full by the incredible Cliff, you can find him on Bandcamp! Signalis (2022) Part 2: What If The God-Emperor Of Mankind Was A Useless Lesbian?

Signalis was always going to be a stretch. We're not horror experts or even enjoyers, mostly. It expects something from you, and we're honestly all kind of doofuses a lot of the time. Still, we all tried to experience it in our own ways, and even if it didn't land for all of us - or possibly even any of us - at least now we can finally understand why that gosh dang woman is so tall in all the art. In this episode: retreating to my treehouse, getting the nastiest six feet of conduit and just smashing the fuck out of it with a ball peen hammer, go back and find six different colored road cones, saves georg, who are these people, you gotta find the jiggies banjo or you'll never get your wife back, decklike roguebuilders. ~~~ Our theme music is Glass Half Full by the incredible Cliff, you can find him on Bandcamp! Öoo (2025): How Do You Plan A Game Like This?

Will is away, looking at crabs so we chose a short but oh so satisfying little puzzle game for this week. You might want to play it yourself but don't worry, we don't spoil the entire game. Just some Game Mechanics. Which is the entire game. Hm. In this episode: the trailer spoils the game, ooh, Toki Tori, horseshoe crabs, bomberpillar, non-gridbased movement, Spy Party, persistent bombs. ~~~ Our theme music is Glass Half Full by the incredible Cliff, you can find him on Bandcamp! Signalis (2022) Part 1: Where's My Wife?

Signalis is stylish and unique, with a story that's picking up steam and pulling us deeper into the possible depths of Serpinski. Also pulling us deeper into the depths of Serpinski: literal actual cyborg zombies. Stop it, cyborg zombies, I just want to see my wife. In this episode: feather (who is editing this one) is too sleepy to do editing bits so please imagine them yourself, GRY, Resident Evil-alikes, 10mmx20 rounds, games for people with tiny feet, i love diagetic interfaces my god, it's not "pixel art", hella logistics. ~shoutouts zone~ I miss my wife, Tails. We're back from our vacation, and ready to explore every twist and turn of this beautiful Italian seaside town! And dang - that's a lot of twists and turns. This one's a long one! We didn't expect the unassuming On Your Tail to inspire this much discussion but here we are, three weeks and three hours later.  In this episode: living the game, prickly pears, loading screens, emptiness, main story quest, the fucking ice cream puzzle, no wait we can't talk about the ice cream puzzle yet, ok now we can talk about the ice cream puzzle, big spoilers, getting all caught up. ~shoutouts zone~ Brave Dave's Big Fat Freight Hop Visiting the Most Famous Tree in Canada: Big Lonely Doug ~~~ Our theme music is Glass Half Full by the incredible Cliff, you can find him on Bandcamp! On Your Tail (2024): Do You Like Italian Goat Ladies With Wide Hips?

There's something about small Italian coastal towns, y'know? The sunny beaches, the colourful houses, the friendly people, the tasty food... the furries? No? What do you you mean, "I haven't seen them"? They're right there. I bet you didn't even look for them. I'll give you another chance though. I've got this game here, Y'see, it's all about those things I just mentioned. You should give it a try. Super Mario 64 (1996): Can You Go Back?

Super Mario 64 is one of the most important games of all time. It set the standard for 3D platformers and 3D games in general, and brought Mario and nintendo into the future while many of his platforming contemporaries failed to make the jump and died in a bottomless pit. Yet, despite being so foundational, there still isn't much exactly like it. Maybe it's nostalgia, or maybe it just predates so many of the rules that have been laid down since then, but it still has surprises even after all this time. In this episode:  retro hardware, dream spaces, cameras, that little fucking circle mario does when turning some of the time, the reward for 120 stars really isn't worth it which is such a 2026 way of thinking, the map, internet archive please stop offering nintendo games for free. ~shoutouts zone~ Super Mario 64 Official Strategy Guide Mario 64 On A Real CRT TV Noodle's "what did you do", about CRT effects Big Boo's Haunt 3d model and Cool Cool Mountain 3d model BAZR ~~~ Our theme music is Glass Half Full by the incredible Cliff, you can find him on Bandcamp! In what might be our most surreal entry into the entire podcast feed, we're here to talk about ENA, an animation project only familiar to half of the team and perhaps only enjoyed by half the team as well. Stay tuned! in this episode: angry and grindset, a lot of areas, a peruvian avant-garde animated comedy series, bless you for your business, fanstuck, everyday ena, the purge event, feather went digging, it's the video game, dance party, froggering, the "good" ending, unforgiven frank, extra virgin girl, the rocks  ~shoutout zone~ LSD Dream Emulator  ENA  Game Grumps Zelda CDI

Outward (2022): Should We Just Have Played Kenshi?

There's something special about an open-world game developed by a small team with grand ambitions. You shouldn't expect AAA graphics or full voice acting, or even comprehensive menus, but there's innovation to be found.  If you search long enough. Sorry, that's a bit mean. Outward is a good game with some annoying design decisions that makes the game difficult to get into. We'll tell you about it. In this episode: turmmip, Gep, continously somber, lotion candles, training away your thirst, mushroom halberd, fuck everyone in this town. ~~~ Our theme music is Glass Half Full by the incredible Cliff, you can find him on Bandcamp! Marathon (2026): This Silkworm Has A MILF Voice?

If the forces of industry ruin art, and this goes double for the games industry, then by the inverse failures are allowed the greatest artistic license. I'm not sure how Marathon came to exist like it does - someone somewhere made a series of bewildering, bizarre decisions - and then a whole team of people went about fucking cooking. Hopefully they'll be able to get to dessert, but if not, I can't say I'm not full already. In this episode: old macintoshes, bungo plz, extraction shooters, learning cliffs, gun feel good, freekits, the highest highs, PLAYER COUNT DISCOURSE, computer vision markers, the six AIs in your head, what if you are bad at shooters? ~shoutouts zone~ Tau Ceti e Marathon Art Style Breakdown OpenCV: Detection of ArUco Markers The "Weird Orb Guys" mentioned IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN MARATHON BUT ARE NOT THE SWEATIEST GAMERLORD OF ALL TIME PARTAKE OF THESE VIDEOS: Official Announcement Trailer Faction Intros + Initial Dialogue (cw: insect close ups) (the insects are very nice though) Reveal Cinematic In Death We've Just Begun (short episode style music video) Cryo Archive Intro Cinematic ~~~ Our theme music is Glass Half Full by the incredible Cliff, you can find him on Bandcamp! Despelote (2025): Do You Care About Your Country?

In 2002, Ecuador qualified for the world cup for the first time. This moment was so affecting, (future) game designer Julián Cordero became consious. This is a semi-autobiographical telling of those six wild months, and it works near flawlessly, transporting us back in time and across place. It's a wonder - but we've all kicked a ball around, and in this all humans are more alike than different. In this episode: liking sports, being eight, nationalistic pride, drone scans, google maps, very specific parks, baseball, California is the best country on earth. 2001 ALCS Game Four: Bernie's homer in eighth ties game Pinstripe Alley: Ranking All Time John Sterling Home Run Calls Sight-In Games Review – Despelote There are several parks in Despelote; the main one appears to be fictional but resembles Plaza Republica de Nicaragua, and the major park we discuss is La Carolina Park. Scott Pilgrim EX (2026): Are Beat-Em-Ups The Original Friendslop?

CHOOSE YOUR CHARACTER: Feather: loud and flighty. Special move: a take so bad all enemies on screen have to engage. Karp: stable and strong. Special move: has already beaten the game, so he can skip ahead to when he already won the fight. Will: fast and has bonus reach. Special move: crashes a bike into enemies for massive damage, hurting them as well as himself (but not the bike!) Gary: fun and supportive. Special move: cooks bomb-ass pasta, healing everyone on screen. Enemies get healed, but also stunned as they try to schedule a new podcast (the more enemies, the longer the stun!) In this episode: fresh game, Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World (The Movie), Ready Player One, sprites, favorite combos, beat-em-up genre conventions, empty stories, not so evil exes, the spirit of whimsy compels you, better than being stung by scorpions for an hour. ~shoutouts zone~ Dueling Genre patreon presents Scott Pilgrim Minute Paul Robertson (I can't find a good portfolio or anything so have a twenty minute animated pixel short) ~~~ Our theme music is Glass Half Full by the incredible Cliff, you can find him on Bandcamp! Slay the Spire (2019) - Are You Ready For The Sweat Zone?

For a game that is credited with popularizing the roguelike deckbuilder genre, Slay the Spire is surprisingly stripped down compared to everything that came after it. You build your deck, you fight monsters, you keep pushing onward. After our time with Inscryption and and Wildfrost, it almost feels strange going backwards to a game most of us have played, and half of us have beaten, before. This ep is a little all over the place, thanks daylight savings, because we're all sleepy and doing our best. Stick around for the post pod where Feather tells us about Marathon for nearly half an hour!   in this episode: roguelike deckbuilders, sway the spire,  sweaty games, the first work, art, adventure quest, orb shit, this game is chess, get sweaty with it  ~shoutout zone~ Dream Quest Adventure Quest ~~~ Our theme music is Glass Half Full by the incredible Cliff, you can find him on Bandcamp! Gary's on the move so we take the chance to play something they absolutely loathe (/j): racing games. This is like an oasis in a WipEout-less world. In this episode: why did WipEout die, podracers, racing line, braking game, "one-and-a-half good games", ancient fox girl, "nightcar dubstep". ~Shoutout zone~ Redout OST - Pipe Down ~~~ Our theme music is Glass Half Full by the incredible Cliff, you can find him on Bandcamp! Kentucky Route Zero (2013*) Part 2: Should You Go?

It's a mark of praise that KRZ so frequently ends up compared with our favorite narrative games -it it's in the same space as Disco Elysium, Citizen Sleeper, Night in the Woods. Just because it frequently comes off worse in those comparisons doesn't mean it's not secretly great. It's just tired, and all out of answers - and maybe that's the only way this story could be honest. In this episode: no bits, aging games, literally figuratively literally robots, midpoints and looking back, Xanadu is butts, getting to the point, getting off the boat, being irrational about animals, giant fucking bird, addiction, garbage ghosts, museums, something is taken from you in the night. ~shoutouts zone~ PDP-1 Computer White Nose Syndrome WEVP-TV Laver (Ghost Town) Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken! ~~~ Our theme music is Glass Half Full by the incredible Cliff, you can find him on Bandcamp! Kentucky Route Zero (2013*) Part 1: If You Were Dead, How Would You Prove It?

Kentucky Route Zero wants to be art so badly, and it genuinely succeeds - this is a beautiful game, both visually and artistically. But a game that is art is less revolutionary in 2013, and our relationships to rural Appalachia have changed as well. Is this game a ghost of the past? Is that the intended outcome, from the very beginning? There are no answers but the ones in your heart. You think you got a sense of rhythm? You think you can shoot good? You think you know roguelites? What about all of them at once? Now make the game monochrome and don't tell the player anything. I kid, there is a good game here if you look under the jank. Pentiment (2022) Part 2: Is This Just Qualityslop?

Pentiment is a game that is good. I might even argue that it's very good. But it's a game with fussy mechanics. It's a murder mystery that isn't interested in the answers. It's vague about it's truths. Pentiment is a tale about how history is preserved; about how truth is obfuscated. It's a tale about heritage and oral tradition and art. It's absolutely about art. Feather, Will, and Gary are finishing up the game this week and while only two of the three of us finished the game, we still very much recommend it! If you're interested at all in playing, please do that before listening to this. We're firm with our spoiler walls, but everything is revealed in this episode.  in this episode: geography, this is not disco elysium, the abbot was right, there is no right answer, returning to tassing, the peasants are organizing, the thread puller, investigations around town, you paint the narrative, boy failure andreas, the best check in the game, the holes are back, a special guest, feather's wishlist returns, the barbenheimer of infinite cities ~shoutout zone~ Pentiment Ending Mural  The Name of the Rose  Andrei Rublev Qualityslop ~~~ Our theme music is Glass Half Full by the incredible Cliff, you can find him on Bandcamp! Endless Monday (2023): Is This Dilbert For Millenials?

This episode wound up a bit of a fever dream disaster, but honestly - it couldn't have ended up any other way. The game is a fever dream disaster, about a disaster having a fever dream. While it sounds like we're just making things up as we go along, I promise this isn't Shrekisode II - everything we mention actually happens in Endless Monday: Dreams and Deadlines. I think. Maybe. Ok, I did start this game at midnight saturday, so... maybe it is all a collective hallucination. You'll have to play it and find out. Maybe. In this episode: jira jumpscare, work bad, internal communications, derailed even more than normal, what the fuck even happened, time travel pathing, AI commentary, air friers, hating visual novels, being a middle manager, yuri. ~shoutouts zone~ Corporate Memphis Saturn Devouring His Son Internal Communications ~~~ Our theme music is Glass Half Full by the incredible Cliff, you can find him on Bandcamp! GOTY 2025: But Did This Make Me Cry?

2025 was absolute butts! Heck, even a lot of the games in 2025 were pretty butts! That doesn't mean there weren't some absolute masterpieces though, and we sit down in our annual look back to talk through the games that affected us the most: games that were wonderful, surprising, heartbreaking, and sometimes just stupid (positive). In this episode: movie of the year (it's kpop demon hunters OBVS), the year 202026 is going to be our year, games everyone has to play, tight little 8-hour packages, Gary's narrative agenda, being mad about spoilers (we've blocked any major spoilers though don't worry), this game is my #2 game of the year (I can't recommend it though, heavens no), Metaphor Re:Fantasio for some godforsaken reason, the Feather & Gary & Maslow Pyramid of queerness, games that make you think, games that make you cry, and a game of the year surprise. ~shoutouts zone~ Basically the entire episode is shoutouts. This week, we gotta go fast, because we're racing baby! From the snow banks of Finland to the mountainous curves of Japan, we're all over the map this week as we speed around in knockoff rally cars alongside many questionally stereotypical navigators! It's #DRIVE Rally! in this episode: making it salty, legally distinct cars, finishing the finnish campaign, sims vs arcades, problems with handling, the nature of hating the game, just a kiss from the road, stop putting the AE86 in things, outrageous stereotypes,  shoutout zone  GRGT  the cars of drive rally  feather's favorite rally car ~~~ Our theme music is Glass Half Full by the incredible Cliff, you can find him on Bandcamp! Pentiment (2022): What If Andreas Had A Gun?

Pentiment's existience feels like a miracle. It's a game that has the deep, super-niche obsession to a specific detail, created by an established double A studio with the backing of Microsoft. A game that wants, more than anything else, to be a portrait of a time. A desire to show an art form (illuminated manuscript) not as the flat, tattered, and dated museum piece but as representative of a living, chaning era. There's also a mystery! A good one! With some fantastic decisions, both major and minor. Not many games outside of the dating sim space can make you obsess over who you're going to eat lunch with. And the music is good! Oh also it might be just a little bit tiny tiny tad bit just a little bit... uh... boring. Yeah. (Only feather thinks this and she's uncultured garbage though) In this episode: on trial, a game of its time (2022), being exceptionally European, Obsidian Entertainment, typos and corrections, I majored in Hedonism in college, on being a good person, relationships to authority, pushback, arcs, pottage, peasantmaxxing, no right answers. ~shoutouts zone~ no shoutouts. too sleepy. What Else Have You Been Playing?

Things are a little hectic, schedule-wise, so we're taking some time to chat through games that aren't podcast games! Gary has infinite stories from Outer Worlds 2 (plus Nikke: Goddess of Victory, although gachaslop gets exiled to the shoutouts zone), Karp's holding hands with Swordcraft Story 2 (and still playing Grandblue Fantasy) and Feather's lost in the Noita sauce while also getting absolutely shelled in Foxhole. Also: Cogmind, One Piece, and Pentiment (but only a little) In this episode: what do you do with a baby, title drops, this game could have been a visual novel, do you want creaky knees, mandatory engineering, supporting gay rights because it minimizes dev time, aquatope's ending was bullshit but it was still a good anime, cheeky localizers, crunch, breaking the fun out of noita, dungeon crawl stone soup catching strays, all roguelikes are either hades or gamblecore, my best bro warlord, escapism, one piece, Feather got cut off telling the story of The Treasury in Foxhole so here's the conclusion: The Treasury got popped by an organized regiment in late US time, which is low population hours. Since it had become such a massive fortress city, the Collies didn't have a ton of defense built up behind it, so that entire side of the front collapsed. That undercut morale deeply, which lead to a general loss of Colonial defenders, and a rapid Warden victory. ~shoutouts zone~ Swordcraft Story: Guardian Beasts Foxhole Stats current map Foxhole: Red Map Icons Mod (featuring pictures of intel) How Naval Invasions Changed In Two Years | Foxhole (also a pretty good intro to Foxhole in general and a fun game design story) Crossover Rei from Granblue Fantasy ~~~ Our theme music is Glass Half Full by the incredible Cliff, you can find him on Bandcamp! Strange Jigsaws (2025): What The Jigsaw?

This title could easily have been "Where the Jigsaw?" because this puzzle game is doing mostly anything but jigsaws. It's quirky and delightful, and broken precisely where it needs to be.  in this episode:  define jigsaw, no spoilers, it's all spoilers, the hint system, the game is a physical space, everything on the table, this space intentionally left blank, two realizations in order, this part is an idol game, suprise a third time, the blue temple, shape rotation activities, hamburger maestro #3, this is the episode title, the mcdonalds of everything, a ball of any material ~shoutouts zone~  hints ~~~ Our theme music is Glass Half Full by the incredible Cliff, you can find him on Bandcamp! Absolum (2025): Will Our Criticisms Be Solved By Simply Playing More?

Absolum is a kinetic, weighty beat 'em up in which it feels so good to build combos and try out different characters. It's also a very delightful, Hades style roguelite, with lots of options for progression and some really cool routing choices across the map. I don't really think I've ever played anything quite like it. In fact, I'm pretty sure I'm going to go play more right now.    in this episode: beat 'em ups, the map and routing, broken builds, co-op, clashes aren't gonna happen that often, too many comparisons to hades, theorizing about the endings and post-game possibilities, meta progressions gary simply missed   ~~~ Our theme music is Glass Half Full by the incredible Cliff, you can find him on Bandcamp! Noita (2019): Am I A Bad Enough Dude To Use Lightning Death Explosion?

Noita is amazingly singular. A game that is fractally deep, yet instantly understandable in its incomprehensibility. A game that is massively frustrating, something that relishes in how little it cares about you, while also letting you impact the entire world down to each precision-modeled grain of sand. There is nothing like it, and honestly, that's probably a good thing because god damn it's past midnight, I have to be at work tomorrow, and after editing this ep there's nothing more I want than to crack it back open and have a cheeky little run. In this episode: potion of stop-talking-about-baseball, that's noita! balance by self-destruction, what's that rumbling noise, when the doom music starts, the perils of lightning, better living through mods, blissfully short, gambling games, that moment you realize you can zoom out on the map. ~shoutouts zone~ Noita: A Game Based On Falling Sand Simulation (dev interview) Starting Perks mod Google Maps for Noita (SPOILERS) ~~~ Our theme music is Glass Half Full by the incredible Cliff, you can find him on Bandcamp! Astro Boy: Omega Factor (2004): Why Should I Play On Easy?

Much like the absolutely horrendous evil killer sun robot at the end of stage 2-1, this game wants to be bigger than the tiny screen it's confined to. A full inventory of this game's design decisions takes about twenty minutes. A technical mastery of the GBA is on display, but as late as it came it - does it matter? Is there room in your life for a forgotten, obsolete, well-crafted retro game? Is there room in your robot heart for love? In this episode: What is an Astro Boy, every GBA game, person who has only played silksong, unnecessary sidescrolling shooter sections are such a plague of this era, difficulty considerations, sixty-five dollars, what do sensors even do, cult classics, tiny screens and large bosses, the big twist, the Tezuka Star System. Also an extended postpod cuz we do be playing games - as always, a reminder that you can always skip the postpod! ~shoutouts zone~ Astro Boy Walkthrough by DEngle (spoilers for Astro Boy) in the game, when you have to play all the stages again, this guide just copies and pastes the sections for the bosses from the first playthrough into the second playthrough! (This fact is what Feather was referring to when she says "ok, put a pin in this walkthrough, we'll get back to it" and then entirely forgets to ever get back to it. She's getting back to it right now, in this episode description. It's her writing this. She's still not sure what pronouns to use for episode descriptions. Like, typically, they're "we". "We talk Astro Boy!" but this digression isn't a group consensus it's just her taking over the episode description for her own evil ends. Except not maybe that evil, more like... morally wasteful? A little less than two years ago, the pod delved deep into the Hallownest, embracing the void in order to push back the Radiance. Now, we're returning to the bug life, weaving our thread of destiny throughout the kingdom of Pharloom. Will we accomplish our climb towards the Citadel, or fall prey to the innumerable bosses that stand in our way? Who knows! What The Car? (2023): What The Car?

This is a game that lives under a lot of very unkind shadows: the shadow of it's predecessor, What The Golf, a very fun and unique game and one that we played in the perfect environment (as a group, eighteen hours into a twenty four hour stream). What the car is in the shadow of the modern gaming environment, where a game that definitely has twenty dollars of work in it is still twenty whole dollars. And right now, it's also in the shadow of silksong and/or a very unhappy feather's job. Sorry What The Car. I couldn't love you, and it's not your fault. Maybe someone else can. In this episode: golf comparisons, being too real, an unfortunately even larger silksong shaped shadow, amused booches, twenty dollars, verbs, giraffe obsession, a reverse omelas kind of situation. ~shoutouts zone~ Shoutouts to caramel apple pops. CW: lots of food talk. As always. How many eggs have you cooked? How many stingrays? How many cigarettes? We're here to answer all these questions and more, but not the most important question of them all: is this game saying anything?
