Spotlight on workplace sexual harassment matters

from Update@Noon · host SAfm

The Judicial Conduct Tribunal has heard how power imbalances in the workplace create difficulties and consequences if a victim of sexual harassment says No. The landmark probe is investigating a complaint by Judges' Secretary, Andiswa Mengo against Eastern Cape Judge President Selby Mbenenge. Mengo alleges that she was sexually harassed in the form of in-person interactions and electronic communication between June 2021 and November 2022, allegedly by the Judge President. Researcher in the field of violence against women, Lisa Vetten has told the tribunal that nuances surrounding sexual harassment in the workplace include consequences that can follow if a victim says "NO". For more on this, we spoke to SABC News Reporter, Canny Maphanga..
