In Acts 4, Peter and John were arrested by the religious leaders because they had healed a man who was born lame from birth.  The miracle caused a great commotion in Jerusalem.  The people were amazed at the great miracle.  Peter used the opportunity to evangelize.  Many people believed and about 5,000 received Jesus as their Messiah.  This greatly offened the religious leaders, and they commanded Peter and John not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus.  However, they refused and they chose to obey God as ruler rather men.   1 Corinthians 15:58 says, "...Stand firm.  Let nothing move you.  Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor is not in vain."
