Starting Anew
from A Constant Becoming · host AConstantBecoming
Can today be a day of renewal? Can you enhance connection, incorporate learning and make a choice? Can you find it in you to love a little more and question a little less?I love the idea of renewal. It inspired me to think that I always have the choice not to start over, not to start again, but to start anew. It’s like resetting the clock so that minute one is now. My history has been closer to starting over or again than starting anew. The difference is that starting over or starting again is about correction…maybe this time I’ll get it right. Starting anew is different. Starting anew is about building on what is to make way for something new, and hopefully something that brings me more joy, more peace and more love. But to start anew, I have to learn from the past while letting it go, live in the present, while not being bound to it, and move toward the future without committing to one version of it. So starting anew is magical but it’s also work.As you read this I wonder:* Does the distinction between starting anew, starting again, and starting over resonate with you?* Which one is closest to where you are today?* Which part of starting anew is the hardest for you?My life these days has been a long series of starting anew. I think for the first time, I’m probably done with starting over because the goals that bound me once no longer do. That’s liberating and also frightening. As we close out the week, can you have the courage to start anew? This is a public episode.
