Statement - Update from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency on a revised regulatory approach to the Livestock Traceability Regulations

The-Food-&-Wine-Radio-Network hosted a recent episode providing an update on the Livestock Traceability Regulations by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA). Based on industry stakeholder feedback, the CFIA is updating traceability requirements for goats, sheep, and cervids. Producers will now have the option to use provincial premises ID numbers, there are new ID and event reporting requirements for goats and cervids, and transporters will be required to carry documentation during transport. Finally, there will be a shortened reporting time requirement for events such as slaughter, disposal, import, and export.
