When you hear the vignettes and the longer stories from the Bhāgavatam about certain people's interactions with the material nature, it has that effect that it forewarns us about what the consequences of following these are. It gives us that strength of purpose in mind. So the combination of chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa and hearing Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam regularly is very powerful, and also we have to take steps on a regular daily basis to practice controlling the mind. Contrary to what the mind says—because it's unruly: "You won't be happy if you control the mind"—it's the opposite. When you control the mind, then you become peaceful. You can't do it all at once, but take tiny, tiny steps to make sure that from the time you wake up, you have a way to keep your mind contained—you don't just let it go anywhere. As an example, there is a waking-up routine to make sure. First thing when you open your eyes, or you open your consciousness out of sleep, you have a mantra that you can meditate upon. I do jayati jana-nivāso devakī-janma-vādo, and I have memorized all the parts of it and read all the commentaries, so it's a meditation for me before I do anything else. And then I give gratitude to Prabhupāda and Kṛṣṇa; I'm just like, "Thank you, thank you, thank you." There are a few other mantras, but it's not necessary. The main thing is: let your mind take shelter as soon as you wake up, and then make sure there are guardrails. What helps me the most for the waking-up process is to have everything lined up the night before. Make sure your āśrama is spotless and that everything's organized. My experience when I wake up to that, is: 'Who did this?' It was somebody else, and I'm so appreciative of that somebody else, and that keeps me on a track. I do this, I do that. I have my papers lined up. Which one I'm going to look at first? Let's just say if somebody has an attraction to a little box that has a light in it—which is the smartphone—a lot of people get attached to that, and their mind gets an addiction to it. There is a replacement for it.(07:54) ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://vaisesikadasayatra.blogspot.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://thefourquestionsbook.com/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #japajolt #makejapagreatagain #mantrameditation #spiritualawakening #soul #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose
