Age related macular degeneration or AMD is a breakdown of the eye’s macula and pretty common in people over the age of 65. The macular is a small area of the retina that is responsible for central vision and seeing fine details. There are two types of macular degeneration dry macular degeneration and wet macular degeneration. Both affect the central vision but in the wet type the degeneration happens much faster and is more noticeable than the dry type. The dry type if left untreated may morph into the wet type. Fat derived stem cells will either differentiate into new cells in the macular, replacing the damaged cells or will act as support and enhance the cells ability to repair themselves.
