Waiting for the perfect time. The perfect plan. The perfect idea. For everything to fall into place. But here's what I've learned: You don't find confidence, or the next step, or a fully mapped-out strategy for your next chapter by thinking about it. You find it by doing something. You find clarity by giving it a go.When I started over in midlife — with a new life, new business, new body, new identity — I didn't have a detailed plan. I just knew something had to change. All I had was a feeling... that I needed a fresh start and a new way of thinking. My spidey senses were telling me: it's time. Staying the same just wasn’t an option anymore. So I got curious. What if I tried something new? That curiosity gave me the courage to begin. And starting gave me the clarity I was craving. If you're sick of holding yourself back... if you're thinking, "I just want to know what to do already!" — this episode is for you.Hey gorgeous, how are you doing? Welcome to Start Over and RiseThis is the space for midlife mavericks and wise women ready to stop settling and start building a life that feels like YOU again. I'm Sara Burton, your Start Over Coach® and biggest cheerleader.Today we're talking about one of the most powerful mindset shifts I've ever made: Give it a go.This phrase has become a mantra in my life. It's helped me push beyond my comfort zone, try new things, and transform my mindset. And it’s doing the same for my clients, too.Let’s dive into the three core ideas:1. Clarity doesn’t come first. Action does. This is true for me, and it’s true for the hundreds of clients I’ve worked with. You might even be nodding along thinking of your own examples. We were taught to wait until we're sure before taking action. But the truth is, we can never be 100% sure. So how do we get sure?By being curious enough to give it a go.Action leads to feedback, which leads to clarity.Thinking won’t give you a new business, a new life, or a new relationship. Living and experiencing your way into it will. You have to take action to know if something is right for you. You can’t think your way there.2. Fear of regret needs to be greater than your fear of failure. Most people don’t regret what they tried and failed at. They regret what they didn’t try.In midlife, regret gets loud. You look back and think, Why didn’t I do this sooner? That thing you’re overthinking? It’s swimming around in your head, draining your energy. Should I? Shouldn’t I?You won’t know unless you give it a go.So ask yourself: will you regret not trying it?Or will you regret trying, failing, and learning something valuable? Or maybe discovering it’s the best thing you've ever done?Make a decision. Let it be messy. Let it teach you what to do next.Quick heads-up: If this is hitting home, come and join my free Start Over and Rise Masterclass.I’ll walk you through my five-step Start Over and Rise method — the exact framework I use with clients to help them take bold action without second-guessing.Link is in the show notes and description. Come join us!3. You don’t need to be sure. You just need to be willing. There are no guarantees. You don’t need to be brilliant straight away. You don’t need to be 100% sure. You just need to be curious enough to follow that inner nudge.Let your curiosity be bigger than your need for certainty.Start before you're ready.Be willing to:TestTweakLearnGrowFeel a bit awkwardStart and figure it outBecause every step is a lesson. Every experience moves you forward. Confidence and clarity come after you take action. So if your curiosity has been sparked... if your spidey senses are buzzing...This is your sign.Stop Procrastinating. Give it a go. And then you’ll know.I promise you, once you adopt this mindset, big shifts start happening. And if you want more support, come sign up for the Masterclass https://www.saraburton.co.uk/masterclassThanks for listening! If you got value from today, please:Hit like and subscribeFollow the podcastShare this episode with someone who needs itLet me know your biggest takeaway.
