Il regno di Luigi XI segna la fine del Medioevo in Francia. Sovrano scrupoli, capace di concepire disegni grandiosi, fu il sovrano che ereditò la Francia spossata dalla guerra dei cent'anni e che, con abilità militare e diplomatica, lasciò in dote alla Francia moderna notevoli acquisizioni territoriali, che portarono la monarchia quasi a coincidere con il territorio nazionale contemporaneo. Questa lezione tratterà delle rivolte dell'antica nobiltà feudale e della fine dei ducati indipendenti di Bretagna e Borgogna, nonché delle acquisizioni in Linguadoca e Rossiglione.
