Stormy Skies
from I Scream Sunday
In Western North Carolina, two years after Hurricane Helene changed everything, we are still on edge when a storm comes through the region. This weekend was no exception: south of us, Hurricane Isaias left dead in its wake, along with severe damage along its path. In this region, the damage was not as bad, but because the landscape was already so damaged after Helene, more trees and branches came down; more flash floods happened; and mostly, people were anticipating the worst. I love a good rainstorm, but not a tropical monster. So for this edition of I Scream Sunday, we’re playing music that takes us through the beginning, middle, and aftermath of storms. Matthieu Bélanger – Claude Lassonde – Christopher Short: “Calm Before the Storm” (The Pearl ~ Reflections in Glassine Subliminality) Robert Scott Thompson: “A Distant Storm Front” (Pluviophilia Volume 3 – Cartographies of Time) Larry Gaab: “Storm Clouds Drew Over” (Outside Meanings) Daniel Robert Lahey: “beautiful storm (thing_503)” (sorrows and sun-breaks) K. Markov: “The Storm” (After the Storm) Puppy Bordiga, ft. Cousin Silas: “The Calm in the Eye of the Storm” (Portraits of Dreams) Anantakara: “Serenity Despite the Storm” (Serenity Despite the Storm) Lucette Bourdin: “While the Storm Passes” (Rising Fog) YONDER: “After the Storm” (Pearl Diver) Puppy Bordiga: “After the Storm, reworked (with Tim Kays)” (Signals Along the Path)
