Story of Scripture--Day #123 "A King After God's Heart" (1 Samuel 16)

from Restoration: Where New Life Begins · host John Baldwin

Day 123 — “A King After God’s Heart”🎙️ The Story of Scripture📖 1 Samuel 16In one of the most powerful turning points in Israel’s history, God rejects the throne of Saul and begins raising up a new king—not in a palace, not on a battlefield, and not among those who appeared most qualified. He chooses a young shepherd boy in the fields of Bethlehem. While everyone else was focused on stature, strength, appearance, and outward credentials, God spoke these unforgettable words to Samuel: “For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7)David wasn’t even invited into the lineup. His own family assumed he wasn’t the obvious choice. He was out tending sheep while others stood before the prophet. Yet what man overlooked, God had already anointed. This chapter reminds us that God often does His deepest work in hidden places—far from applause, platforms, and public recognition. The fields of obscurity often become the training grounds for kingdom purpose. Before David would ever wear a crown, he would learn faithfulness where nobody was watching.🎙️ In today’s episode of The Story of Scripture, we explored this life-changing truth: God is not searching for the most impressive—He is searching for the most surrendered. Heaven sees what people miss. God notices the private battles, the quiet obedience, the unseen faithfulness, and the heart that longs to honor Him. You may feel overlooked, underestimated, or forgotten—but if your heart belongs to Him, you are never outside His sight.💭 People may judge your appearance, your résumé, your past, or your platform… but God is still looking at the heart. And often the ones the world overlooks become the very ones God uses to change the story.#TheStoryOfScripture #Day123 #1Samuel16 #AKingAfterGodsHeart #GodLooksAtTheHeart #David #ChosenByGod #FaithfulnessInTheField #DrJohnBaldwin #BiblePodcastSupport the show
