from Over Forty Wellness Podcast · host vincent

Show Notes - Strictly Dmitriy with Dmitriy Arsiriy Today my guest is Dmitriy Arsiriy. Dmitriy is a Professional Latin Dancer and Latin Dance Teacher. Born in Kyrgyzstan (One of the former Soviet Union Republics). He started to dance there at the early age of 6. Dmitry comes from a family of dancers.  His parents are dance instructors. Both of his brothers are dancers too. A veritable family of dancers. His family moved to Russia in 1989 and Dmitriy was training, joining dance competitions and teaching young dancers there from 1992 till 1999.  In November 1999 he came to HK and taught in HK from 2000-2002. Dmitriy returned  to Russia at the end of 2002 and continued to train couples for competitions in Russia until 2005.  In May 2005 came back to HK and has been teaching dancing in HK ever since. 3:58  My parents were a dance couple. They were one of the first pioneers in the Soviet Union. 4:35  I was six years old and I started to dance. Both of my brothers too. 7:05  Dancing was my hobby and it was my career as well. 9:38  I was like a Russian Coach very “Straight to the point”, a little rude. 10:00 I worked for a studio in Times Square and the experience was priceless. 10:36 I am teaching Latin American Dancing like “Strictly Dancing” and “Dancing with the Stars” in the US. Five Latin and Five Ballroom. I teach the Latin Dancing. 12:17 Very popular for a professional dancer to dance with a student – Pro Am. Professional, amateur couple. 13:40 Lots of Pro-Am couples in Hong Kong directed to Pro-Am shows. 16:55 You need a lot of patience. 18:45 I give them pressure but I try to do it in a nice way. 19:50 The process is pretty simple we have a few basic steps and moves we need to learn. 21:18 Any kind of movement is an exercise, like walking with the dog, like playing football with my son. Dancing is exercise with the miusic. 27:05 Working with the whole 360 degrees, 3D Action. 28:32 I was just blown away by the sheer number of couples and most of them are good. 31:20 I myself , pretty much perfectionist in terms of technique. 32:55 If you say Nureyev - he wasn’t a perfect dancer……… He had such a presence on the stage,……… this is the difficult part. 34:10 Allan Tornsberg a guy from Denmark he was very, very good at leading ladies,  superb at showing off the ladies………  the best example of the Latin dancer would be Gaynor Fairweather – so she was  fourteen times world champion and even today not many girls can dance like her…. 37:05 I have a pull-up bar at home any time I feel like it I just jump and do a few pull ups – very random. 38:20 My wife enrolled me for some yoga, like I go to the Iyengar Yoga Centre Sheung Wan once or twice a week. 40:20 Routine and consistency is very important. 41:35 At around three years ago I stopped eating meat……. 47:30 Sometimes coaches are trying to push students over the limits. Asking them to di again and again. 50:05 Billboard quote: “Dance like no one is Watching”Contact Dmitriy:WhatsApp: +85296388999Contact Vincent:Newsletter: https://vincent1cd.substack.comPodcast: https://overfortywellness.buzzsprout.comEmail: [email protected]: Vincent HiscoxEpisode is LivePublished: Sep. 18, 2020 @ 9PM EditUnpublish
