Stronger after Friendly Fire

from PHIT PD · host PHIT PD

A 15 year law enforcement veteran joins us to talk about the mental and physical injuries after getting shot in the line of duty.  She now serves as a lieutenant-a leader, mentor, and inspiration to those around her.  Beyond the badge, she's a mother of two young daughters, a proud college graduate and a 2007 Women's Volleyball Hall of Fame inductee. However, her journey hasn't been without extraordinary challenges.  After being shot in the line of duty, she suffered devastating injuries that launched her into a long and painful road of rehabilitation-both physical and emotional.  Battling post-traumatic-stress-disorder, she refused to give up.  She shares her story of suffering her injuries as a result of friendly-fire.  And just when she thought she'd overcome her toughest test, another career-threatening injury struck two years later. But true to her resilient spirit, she turned adversity into fuel.  Inspired by the growing cultural change within policing and a desire to uplift those around her, she adopted a powerful personal mantra: "Better Every Day."
