He was a student leader, and mentor in a program that allowed him to earn elective credits while developing his own leadership as well as underclass students. Joe was a varsity athlete and shares some of his views on what it meant to be a student athlete who wanted to get into a good college. He gives advice on how intermural sports at the high school level might have allowed more students to be able to participate and feel good about joining sports without the pressures of being the best.
