Public Protector Advocate Kholeka Gcaleka says a systemic investigation has found serious administrative, governance and funding deficiencies at NSFAS. Briefing the media today Gcaleka says  The investigation found delays in funding decisions, appeals and allowances, leaving students facing financial hardship, accommodation instability and withheld qualifications. The Public Protector also revealed that more than 40,000 students across 76 institutions were improperly funded by NSFAS to the value of R5.1 billion, with only R2 billion recovered so far. The public protector's office says NSFAS and other affected parties have 60 days to respond before final findings and remedial action can be taken. Sakina Kamwendo spoke to Dr Thato Masekoa spokesperson for the the South African Union of Students,
