He is also known as a “Visual Futurist” in the film industry for his work sketching futuristic product ideas for science fiction movies. Doug Patton graduated from California State University of Long Beach in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design, and was awarded Distinguished Alumnus in 1995. He was commencement speaker for the graduating class that same year.
