Success Strategies for Struggling Small to Medium Sized Colleges and Universities

from Changing Higher Ed · host Dr. Drumm McNaughton

Dr. Drumm McNaughton interviews Rick Beyer, Executive Chairman at Core Education Services, PBC, about new and innovative ways that smaller colleges and universities can leverage shared services and affiliations to survive and prosper in the future. Podcast Highlights The COVID-19 pandemic has compounded previously existing and systemic problems in higher education, which will require transformational changes. While large universities' economies of scale offer protections against declining enrollments and other issues – at least for now – smaller institutions that are already struggling to survive must act now. As the higher education industry enters what Beyer calls the "consolidation era," there will be more mergers of necessity and strategic mergers among colleges, as well as the emergence of new affiliations with shared services organizations.
