Sudden Loss and An Eating Disorder
from The Kathryn Zox Show · host Kathryn Zox
Kathryn interviews actress, teacher and writer Roselee Blooston MFA, author of "Dying in Dubai: A Memoir of Marriage, Mourning and the Middle East." This heartbreaking but redemptive memoir tells the story of the sudden death in Dubai of Blooston's beloved husband Jerry, and how her journey through a profoundly disorienting environment forces her to face wrenching questions about his behavior there. Kathryn also interviews English Professor and eating disorder survivor Lisa Knopp, author of "Bread: A Memoir of Hunger". When Knopp was 54, she realized that the severe food restricting that had left her sick and small when she was 15 and 25 had returned. Now deep into middle age, she was full of urgent questions and determined to understand her malady. Knopp's essays have appeared in numerous literary publications including the Missouri Review, Michigan Review, Iowa Review, Gettysburg Review, Brevity: A Journal of Concise Literary Nonfiction and Creative Nonfiction.
