In 1976 three suitcases found near a river contained the remains of a pregnant teenage girl known for decades as Beth Doe. After years of cold-case work and new DNA genealogy techniques, investigators identified her as 15-year-old Evelyn Colon and traced a suspect. An arrest was made in 2021, but legal and jurisdictional challenges later led to dismissal of charges in Pennsylvania, leaving Evelyn’s family still seeking final justice while her name and story are finally remembered.
