Supplemental Episode 01: Migrating Online: SAMR, TPACK, and Best Practices

from Teaching Literacy Podcast

Welcome to this special supplemental episode of the Teaching Literacy Podcast.   Due to current events, eLearning seems to be at the front of everyone’s mind.  Yesterday, schools in my state of Utah were cancelled for 14 days due to Coronovirus, and I know there are thousands of schools nationwide where this is occurring. Naturally, eLearning seems to be the obvious alternative.  We have the technology- let’s just have students learn at home. but how theory and research influence this mass migration to digital is yet to be seen.  That’s what I want to tackle in this episode. In this episode, I talk about two theories of technology integration, SAMR and TPACK, and discuss some best practices for online teaching. If current events has left you or your colleagues needing a crash course in online learning, this is the episode for you! References: Cheung, A. C., & Slavin, R. E. (2012).
